Rossendale is located only 25 miles north of Manchester and is a world away from the pace of modern life.

Originally an area of subsistence farming and low scale wool production, it was also crown forest land with the hunting of boar and stag common.

The then cottage industry of woollen production was propelled by the industrial revolution; this included the development of felt manufacture which many believe led to the valley becoming a world centre for the production of shoes.

Even after the peak of its manufacturing heights Rossendale still remains a centre for many diverse industries and retains a vibrant and diverse community.

However Rossendale has always been more than just industry, indeed the wide open moors, hills and valleys of the area offer some stunning mountain bike, horse riding and walking opportunities.

As the general manager of RPA, I believe fate brought me to the area over ten years ago.

From the moment I arrived I fell in love with our wild open moorland and of course the amazing people of the Rossendale Valley.

Take this as an invitation to come and enjoy with us what is probably the best kept secret in the Pennines.
